Heat Treated Wood

Derived from a process developped in Finland, heat treated wood offers interesting features that weren’t available with traditional wood until now. This astoundingly coloured wood is exclusive to Dimensions Doors.

Requiring only heat and moisture, this wood is 100% environment-friendly compared to treated wood. The drying process of densified wood requires much more heat, resulting in its burned wood aspect, without nonetheless reducing it to ashes ...

Wood is living matter which is altered according to temperature and humidity variations. As a result of this special treatment, all the wood’s living cells are destroyed, therefore it will absorb much less moisture, making it an ideal material for an exterior or even an interior door.

Although traditional wood still has its place in the market, heat treated wood offers certain characteristics that make it ideal for door fabrication:
• Stable level of moisture;
• Very high rot resistance;
• Increased dimensional stability;
• Decreased moisture absorption capacity;
• Better thermal efficiency;
• Higher hardness factor;
• Appealing natural colour.

Heat treated wood species available in our price list are knotty white pine and aspen (very hard and heavy).
